Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1940 Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Double Jewel Fountain Pen in Jet Black Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

The NIB, Feed, Section, and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, 14K Parker NIB, and bottom tassel. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Jet Black celluloid color is gorgeous and displays that sophisticated/classic, yet simple look. The cap has the Blue Diamond Arrow Gold Filled Clip with the Wide Chevron Cap Banding that displays no wear. The top and bottom jewels are black and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is stamped clearly, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with a date code 0 (for 1940) in the 2nd Quarter". The barrel transparency is water clear, albeit, with mild ambering. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Senior Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for the 2nd Generation Vacumatics and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 10-12 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker 14K NIB has a good portion of the two-tone platinum plating in intact. The nib's number matching to the barrel date code, 1940 in the 2nd Quarter, which makes the nib and barrel a marriage. The Iridium on the nib has a medium point that measures .70mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .66mm to 1.01mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink. The nib writes with a very smooth line and ranges on the wet side for ink flow to paper.

This vintage Parker Vacumatic Maxima Fountain Pen is classic and beautiful. I would consider this Senior Maxima to be in Excellent Condition! It is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
