Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1940 Parker Emerald Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in Major Size. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in fantastic writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. I have replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized-one. I have hand-polished the Gold-Filled Blue Diamond Clip, Chevron Cap Band, bottom jewel tassel, and 14K Parker NIB. Additionally, I cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in marvelous condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The coloring of the celluloid on this pen is very vibrant. This cap displays the Split Arrow Gold Filled Blue Diamond Clip and Chevron Cap Banding, which display no brassing. The top jew is emerald striped and the bottom jewel is green/black - both have been polished to bring back a beautiful shine. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 0 (for 1940) in the 1st Quarter". The transparency of the barrel is good, albeit with medium ambering. The blind cap securely fits. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size, which measures 5 1/4" in length capped and 6 1/4" posted.

This Vacumatic has the Speedline Filling System works perfectly, in my tests with water about 6-9 presses to fill nearly full. The Speedline Filling Unit has been greased and operates smoothly. The Speedline Filler is the correct filling unit for this 2nd Generation fountain pen.

The Parker NIB is a 14K Gold Split Arrow NIB. The actual writing portion/tip (iridium) of this 14K Parker NIB has a fine point measuring .49mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating the writing sample, this Parker NIB writes with a fine to broad stroke. The writing sample provided in the listing image has the fine stroke measuring at .45mm with light pressure and the broad line measuring at .93mm when measured with digital calipers with normal to firm pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Black Ink.

These Double Jewel Major Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pens are increasingly difficult to find. I would grade this Parker Vacumatic in Excellent Condition after my restoration and it is ready to write with.
