Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Very Rare and Restored 1937 Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Double Jewel Fountain Pen in the Silver Pearl Celluloid with the "PARKER VACUMATIC" cap banding. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together and is now in fantastic writing condition.

The rarity of this pen lies in the Parker Vacumatic imprinted cap banding. These Parker Vacumatic cap band fountain pens were only produced for a few quarters in 1937 during Q2 through Q4. These Parker Vacumatic Cap Bands are considered extremely rare and coveted by collectors and rarely come up for sale. This one, especially, due to the Nickel trim not displaying any wear is remarkable!

The nib, feed, section, and breather tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. I have hand polished the Nickel Split Arrow Clip, Parker Vacumatic Nickel plated cap banding, 14K 2-Tone Parker NIB, and bottom tassie. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Silver Pearl color is simply beautiful with vibrant Silver Pearl color. The cap has the Split Arrow nickel-plated clip that does not display any wear. The PARKER VACUMATIC Nickel plated cap banding displays crisp lettering and displays no brassing or wear. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel, section, and blind cap of the fountain pen and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 7 (for 1937) in the 4th Quarter" - I point out the MADE IN USA and the 47 date code is very light and needs the right lighting to see it. The barrel transparency is very good, a person can see through the barrel, albeit with mild ambering. The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 15-18 presses to fill roughly full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Vacumatic 2-Tone NIB is 14K Gold with platinum plating that is roughly 75% intact - extremely hard to find nibs of this sort in this condition. The Nib has a medium point that measures .62mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .54mm to .88mm when measuring with digital calipers. The nib on the Maxima writes very smoothly. The writing sample was done with the actual pen listed in the images. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Black Ink.

This Parker Silver Pearl Senior Maxima Fountain Pen with Parker Vacumatic Cap Banding is as good as it can get - the celluloid is vibrant and looks incredible, has the striped jewels, striped section, the barrel has very good transparency, and it is a Senior Maxima with the uber-rare Parker Vacumatic Cap banding. I would consider this Maxima to grade in Excellent to Excellent+ Condition and will certainly be a treasured addition to your writing arsenal collection.
