Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Beautifully Restored 1943 Parker Vacumatic Emerald Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Major Size fitted with a 14K Medium nib. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now back in fantastic writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. I have hand-polished the gold-filled Split Arrow clip, gold-filled Chevron cap banding (///\\\), and 14K Parker nib. Additionally, I cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6" posted. The Emerald color is lovely in this celluloid and the color displays vibrantly.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Split Arrow Blue Diamond Gold Filled Clip in excellent condition with no wear. The Chevron Cap Banding is also in excellent condition with no brassing or wear displayed. The top jewel is black and has been polished to bring back a gorgeous shine. The barrel is stamped with, " GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. with a 3 date code for 1943 in the 3rd quarter". The transparency of the barrel is near water-clear with a hint of ambering, albeit one can easily see through it. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

This 3rd Generation Parker Vacumatic has the correct plastic filling unit typical of this production. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly. The Vacumatic Filling System works very well, typically in my tests with water about 7-8 presses to fill full.

The Fountain Pen has a 14K Parker Split Arrow nib that writes with a medium line. The nib has a "3" date code that makes the nib and pen a match to 1943. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .66mm when measured with digital calipers. In the writing sample provided, the medium line ranges from .62mm to .78mm when measured with digital calipers under medium to firm pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen is collector-grade with clean celluloid, great color vibrancy, smooth writing nib, and water-clear barrel transparency. These Golden Pearl Celluloid Parker Vacs are increasingly difficult to acquire especially in this type of condition. I would grade this Parker in Excellent to Excellent+ Condition. It is ready to write with or just it add to your writing arsenal stable.
