Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1945 Parker Azure Blue Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Major Size fitted with an ultra-smooth writing 14K nib. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in fantastic writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. I hand polished the gold-filled Split Arrow Clip, Gold Filled Two-Ring Cap Banding, and 14K nib. I have also cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the material of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size (but known as a Junior due to the 2 Ring Cap Banding and Non-Blue Diamond Clip) that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has a split arrow gold-filled clip and is in perfect condition with no brassing. The 2-ring cap banding is in excellent condition with no brassing. The top jewel is black and has been polished to bring back a gorgeous shine. The barrel is stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with a date code 5 (for 1945) in the 3rd quarter (note the made in U.S.A. and date code are faint however they are still on the barrel". The transparency of the barrel has medium to heavy ambering. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations on either the cap or barrel.

The Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 7-8 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and now operates flawlessly.

The Parker NIB is a 14K gold Split Arrow Medium Point NIB and is a standout on this pen based on how smoothly it writes. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .66mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample, this NIB writes with a medium to broad line variation. The medium line/stroke measures at .64mm with light pressure and the broad line measures 1.00mm when measured with digital calipers under medium pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The nib is a pleasure to write with and does so smoothly. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This vintage Parker Vac Fountain Pen displays a beautiful blue pearl color and writes ultra-smoothly. I grade this Parker Vac in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write with or you just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
