Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored 1940 Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Silver Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Nickel Plated Blue Diamond Clip, Chevron Cap Banding and 14K NIB. Buffed and Polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size which measures 5 1/4" in length capped and 6" posted. The color is gorgeous on this pen - the silver celluloid just shines.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The cap has the split arrow Nickel Plated Blue Diamond clip and Chevron Cap Band with no plating wear The top & bottom jewels are black and both have been polished for a wonderful shine. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 0 in the 4th quarter". There is a monogram with the initials, "MLH", on the barrel. The transparency of the barrel is excellent with mild ambering - an individual can easily see through the barrel. The blind cap securely fits. There is a bit of brassing to the edge of the blind cap tassel. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 6 to 8 presses to fill full. The Speedline Filler Unit is proper the year of the pen.

The Parker NIB is a 14K two-tone split arrow NIB. Some of the platinum plating is wearing, which is normal and does not affect the NIB function when writing. The iridium is great and creates a very smooth writing experience, writing with this NIB is wonderful and cannot place enough emphasis for it. The 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly 0.60mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample the NIB writes with a extra fine to a broad stroke line, which is extremely smooth. With the writing sample provided, the extra fine line measures at .42mm and the broad line measured with digital calipers is 1.04mm with medium pressure. The writing sample was completed with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample provided was completed by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a fantastic vintage example of the Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Silver Pearl Celluloid. I would grade this fine Parker writing instrument at Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
