Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1944 Parker 51 Vacumatic Fountain Pen with Sterling Silver Cap in the Cedar Blue Color. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, breather tube, hood, barrel, and NIB. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Sterling Silver Cap, Gold Filled Arrow Blue Diamond Clip, Clutch Ring, and 14K Parker NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, blind cap, and hood to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the material of fountain pen. This Parker 51 measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap, barrel, blind cap, and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Sterling Silver Cap has the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Clip that has been polished and displays no brassing. The Sterling Silver Cap is really clean but does display some scratching that commensurates with the age of the pen. The cap secures to the barrel snugly. The cap has the chevron cap banding with parallel lines repeating all around the cap. The cap is clearly stamped with, "STERLING SILVER MADE IN U.S.A.". Additionally, the cap has the Pearlized jewel that has been polished to a high shine. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "PARKER 51 with a date 4 (for 1944) in the 1st Quarter". The blind cap is in excellent condition and securely fits flush with the barrel. The clutch ring has lost all of its gold washed center.

The Parker 51 has the correct plastic filling unit for a 1944 year model. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill nearly full in roughly 9 to 11 presses. I have greased the Vacumatic pump and now operates as it was intended to and very smoothly.

The Parker NIB is 14K and has a fine point measuring roughly .49mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with an extra fine/fine stroke. In the writing sample provided, the extra fine/fine line measures at .44mm to .47mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This vintage Parker 51 Vacumatic Fountain Pen in Cedar Blue has great color with a harder to find Sterling cap. I would consider this Parker 51 to be in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.

NOTE: There is no blind cap/barrel/hood discoloration - the reflection of the camera body may give the appearance the color is not matching, but I will assure the color is matching across the pen hood, barrel, and blind cap.
