For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Never Inked Limited Edition Montblanc Duke of Milan Ludovico Sforza Fountain Pen from the 2013 Patron of the Art Series. This particular fountain pen is a Limited Edition 4007 of 4810. This pen has the original lacquered wooden box, Montblanc Limited Edition Documentation, and inner and outer boxes. This fountain pen has never been inked, and is considered in Mint Condition fitted with an 18K (.86mm) Medium nib.

NOTE: Ludovico Sforza was born in 1452 as the fourth son of the Milanese duke Francesco Sforza. After being crowned Duke of Milan in 1494, Ludovico promoted humanist education at the University of Milan and commissioned the expansion of the Renaissance Castello Sforzesco. Throughout his reign, Ludovico Sforza supported numerous outstanding artists with commissions at the Milanese court, including the architect Donato Bramante and the greatest genius of his era, Leonardo da Vinci. This universal genius worked for the Duke of Milan for a decade and a half, during which time he created two of his best-‐known works for his patron: “The Last Supper” in the convent church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and “The Lady with an Ermine”.

The design of the Ludovico Sforza Limited Edition 4810 pen features the striking architecture of the Castello Sforzesco. The black lacquer of the 4810 Edition is decorated with ornaments inspired by da Vinci’s ceiling fresco from the “Sala delle Asse” in the Milanese castle. The embossment on the cap ring is reminiscent of the “testone”, a silver coin of the Italian Renaissance minted in honor of Ludovico Sforza. Inlays of Ag 925 sterling silver complete this captivating Limited Edition in honor of Ludovico Sforza. The Sforza family coat of arms inspired the engraving on the 18K/750 Gold nib. This Montblanc is a limited edition and the number of this particular pen is "4007 of 4810".

The cap and barrel are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, dings, dents, enameling loss, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. This Montblanc is a limited edition number, "4007 of 4810" and is stamped on the blind cap. Opposite the limited edition number, the pen is hallmarked is stamped with, " 925, StØD, and another 925 hallmark". The fountain pen measures 5 3/4" capped and 6 7/8" posted. This pen weighs in at 3.44 ounces.

This Montblanc fountain pen uses a piston filling system, I have tested it with water, and works as it was designed to. It is in perfect working order and does so very smoothly. This pen has never seen ink and is considered in Mint, New Old Stock condition.

The medium nib of this fountain pen is made of 18K gold and features an exquisitely designed engraving inspired by the Sforza family coat of arms. The nib is stamped with, "4810, StØD, 18K/750, 2013, MONTBLANC" and is considered a MEDIUM point, measuring .86mm with digital calipers. The fountain pen has never been used with ink in order to preserve its pristine condition for the next owner or collector.

This Montblanc comes in the original Montblanc wooden black lacquered box, the Limited Edition Booklets, and the inner and outer boxes you see in the images.

This Montblanc Patron of the Art Ludovico Sforza Fountain Pen has always been a favorite in the Patron of the Arts series. This one is in impeccable condition, having never been used with ink with a barrel and cap free from any imperfections! I would classify this Montblanc Ludovico Sforza Fountain Pen as being in never-inked, mint condition.
