For your consideration, we are pleased to offer for sale this Never Inked 1996 Montblanc Patron of Art Semiramis Limited Edition Fountain Pen, numbered 2604 of 4810. This exquisite writing instrument comes complete with its original lacquered wooden presentation box, outer boxes, Montblanc literature, and International Service Certificate. The pen has never been inked, remains in Mint, New Old Stock condition, and is fitted with an 18K Medium (.70mm) nib.
Created to honor Queen Semiramis, the legendary ruler who united Babylon and Assyria and commissioned the fabled Hanging Gardens—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World—Montblanc’s Patron of Art Semiramis embodies the grandeur and artistry of ancient Mesopotamia. Each detail of this limited edition reflects the meticulous craftsmanship that once defined Babylon’s master artisans.
The barrel, crafted from black precious resin, is encased in an intricate 18K gold-plated filigree, hand-polished to a brilliant shine. The design features structured Babylonian-style ornaments with stylized red enamel flowers, providing a striking contrast against the black and gold surfaces. The cap and barrel are both in perfect condition, free of cracks, nicks, or repairs, and the cap threads securely to the barrel.
This fountain pen is engraved “Montblanc 2604 / 4810”, confirming its limited-edition status. Measuring 5 3/4" capped, 6 5/8" posted, and weighing 1.87 ounces, the Semiramis is both substantial and perfectly balanced in the hand.
The pen operates via Montblanc’s piston-filling system, which has been fully tested with water for proper function. The interior of the barrel has been cleaned, and the piston mechanism lightly greased for smooth operation. No traces of ink were found, confirming its never-inked status.
The 18K solid gold nib, engraved with symbols of Babylonian deities, is marked “4810, 18K/750, Montblanc, 1996” and measures approximately .70mm (Medium) with digital calipers. To preserve its pristine, collector-grade condition, the nib has not been dipped or filled.
This example includes the original presentation set—Montblanc’s polished wooden display box, outer packaging, literature, and International Service Certificate. Please note: the back left corner of the wooden box shows a small hairline crack, likely from hinge tension; the box still opens and closes properly, though the right side of the lid sits slightly misaligned (approximately 1/8"). This minor cosmetic issue does not affect function or display quality but is mentioned for complete accuracy.
Queen Semiramis is remembered as both a visionary leader and a passionate patron of the arts—attributes perfectly captured in this remarkable edition. Her devotion to beauty and culture is reflected in every facet of the Semiramis fountain pen, from its luxurious materials to its regal design.
The 1996 Montblanc Patron of Art Semiramis Fountain Pen stands as a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship, a tribute to one of history’s most fascinating figures. It is offered here in mint, never-inked, and new old stock condition, making it a truly exceptional addition for any serious Montblanc or fine writing instrument collector.
