Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1938 Double Jewel Parker Shadow-Wave Fountain Pen in Golden Brown Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Feather Clip, Double Cap Banding, Bottom Tassel and 14K Split Arrow NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished & Waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the finish of the fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in good condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs. The cap has the Gold Filled Feather Arrow clip with just a hint of brass in the center of the feather area of the clip. The Double Cap Banding displays a wonderful gold filled with no brassing. The top and bottom jewels are black and polished to high shine. The jeweled blind cap securely fits. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Parker Vacumatic and a date code of 1938 in the 3rd quarter". The transparency of the barrel is excellent and one can easily see through the barrel, albeit with mild ambering. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Parker Vacumatic Shadow Wave Fountain Pen is Junior Model that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.

The Lockdown Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 6 to 7 presses and it will fill full. The proper Lock Down Filling Unit operates smoothly and works as it was designed to. I have greased the filling unit to provide continuous smooth operation for years to come.

The NIB is a 14K Parker Split Arrow and has the date code, 1938 in the second quarter, as the barrel. The 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .76mm, measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample the NIB writes with a fine to broad stroke / line. The writing sample provided in the image has a medium stroke that measures .51mm and can flex to a roughly .93mm with normal pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a 1st Generation (1933 to 1938) Parker Vacumatic Shadow Wave Fountain Pen in the Golden Brown color that is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection. I would grade this Parker Vacumatic in Excellent Condition and is a great addition to your Shadow Wave Collection.
