Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored 1940 Parker Vacumatic Double Jewel Fountain Pen in the Burgundy Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Plated Blue Diamond Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap Banding and 14K NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a Major size which measures 5 1/4" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted. The color is gorgeous on this pen - the burgundy pearl just pops

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The cap has the Blue Diamond Split Arrow Gold Plated Clip and Chevron Cap Bands displaying no plating loss The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap and barrel and both have been polished for a wonderful shine. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "Made in Canada Parker Vacumatic PAT NO.318982 REG. TMS. with date code 0 in the 2nd quarter". The transparency of the barrel is very good, albeit with ambering - an individual can easily see through the barrel. The blind cap securely fits. This Vacumatic Speedline Filling System works perfectly, typically in my tests with water about 8 presses to fill full. The Speedline Filling Unit is the correct filling unit for this year fountain pen.

Here is where this pen gets very interesting - the Parker NIB is a 14K split arrow NIB with a triple broad stroke flex. The iridium is great and creates a wonderful writing experience. The 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly 0.80mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample the NIB writes with a fine to triple broad stroke line. With the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .45mm and the triple broad stroke line measured with digital calipers is 2.18mm with firm to medium pressure. The writing sample was completed with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample provided was completed by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a fantastic vintage example of the Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Burgundy Pearl Celluloid. I would grade this fine Parker writing instrument at Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
