Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1938 Sheaffer WASP Lever Filler Fountain Pen in the Green Marbled Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have replaced the old sac with a new sac. Polished the Gold Filled Clip, Cap Banding, and 14K Gold #3 WASP NIB. I also cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. The green marble celluloid has such gorgeous coloring - this is an excellent example.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in superb condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has a Gold Filled Clip and Cap Banding. The clip displays some age appropriate wear while the cap banding displays no wear. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "WASP PEN CO INC. FORT MADISON, IOWA, U.S.A.". There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Sheaffer WASP Fountain Pen measures 5" in length capped and 6" posted. I have to point out that the celluloid is exceptionally clean with great coloring.

This Sheaffer WASP Lever Filling System has been restored. I have replaced the old sac with a new one. I have tested the lever-filling mechanism with water and fills as it should.

This Sheaffer WASP has a #3 14K NIB which writes smoothly. The actual writing portion, the iridium, of the 14K Sheaffer WASP NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .74mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a fine stroke measuring at .52mm and will flex up to a medium .87mm stroke with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Blue Ink.

This Sheaffer WASP Fountain Pen, I would grade it from Very Fine Condition. Certainly, the color pops on this pen and the nib writes very smoothly. This is collector-worthy and a super addition to one's writing arsenal collection.
