Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1927 Waterman #7 Red Ripple Hard Rubber Fountain Pen with the Red Keyhole NIB and Cap Banding. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned, buffed, and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly sized, silicone sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Waterman Clip, Gold Filled Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K Red Keyhole NIB.

This fountain pen is made from hard rubber in the Red Ripple pattern. The coloring is gorgeous displaying consistent red and black coloring. with the Red Ripple pattern matching perfectly. The lever is clean with very tiny wear on the edge just above the Ideal Globe imprint on the lever arm. The Waterman Ideal Clip-Cap displays no wear and has been polished bright. The gold-filled cap banding also displays no wear of the gold-filled material but displays a few pinhead dings. All the 18K Gold Filled trim has been polished to a high shine. The barrel has the imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG US IDEAL GLOBE PAT OFF FOUNTAIN PEN". The butt end of the fountain pen has a crisp number "7" imprint. The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the RED banding and is period banding due to the crazing and shows some shrinkage (reproduction cap bands in red are available if you are looking for better example). There are no monograms or personalization to either the cap or barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #7 measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 7 3/16" posted.

The lever and box assembly has been cleaned and oiled. I have tested the lever filling systems with water and works flawlessly and as it was originally intended to.

This Waterman has a Red Keyhole Nib Made in the USA. The Red color coded Waterman Nib is known for being Medium and Flexible when writing and is coveted by collectors. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .75mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line with very light pressure measuring roughly .51mm and will flex upwards to a triple broad stroke of 1.99mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The Nib has excellent responsiveness and writes very smoothly - overall a great pen to write with. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is antique Waterman #7 Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition using the incredible flexible NIB. I would consider the condition of this fountain pen to grade in very fine to excellent condition. This Waterman #7 is collector grade and would be an example to add to your writing arsenal collection.
