Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1932 Carter's Green & Black Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition. This is an unusual color manufactured by Carter's that I have never seen.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the rubber sac with a new sac. I have hand polished the gold-filled clip, cap banding, and lever arm. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Carter's Fountain Pen measures 5 1/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted. The widest area around the cap band measures 7/16" of an inch in diameter. The pen weighs .50 ounces.

The fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The clip, cap, and barrel banding are in very good condition and display some very minor wear. The gold-filled lever has a very minor hint of wear to the edges. The cap clip is stamped with, "CARTER'S" but the barrel never had any imprints. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

I have tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly.

The Carter's nib is 14K and generates a pleasant writing experience. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .64mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to double broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures .64mm and will flex to the double broad line that measures 1.57mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This vintage Carter's Fountain Pen is a spectacular example in Green and Black celluloid in a color I have never seen before. Carter's made fountain pens from 1924 to 1932 I would consider this Parker to easily grade in Excellent Condition. It is certainly collector grade and is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
