Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1928 Carter's  Fountain Pen Model #10125 in this clean and scarce Coral Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition. The color is exceptional and this is a Holy Grail color for Carter's collectors.

I have cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the rubber sac with a new silicone sac to protect the color of the celluloid. Hand polished the gold-filled Carter's rocker clip, lever arm, and 2-ring barrel banding. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of the fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Carter's Fountain Pen is a Standard size model that measures 5 1/8" inches capped and 6 3/8" posted.

The fountain pen cap and barrel are in exceptional condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. This Coral color is uncompromised and displays nearly like the day it left the factory - brilliant and clean coral coloring! The clip on the cap displays brightly with just a hint of gold-filled wear on the high point on the ball of the clip. The 2-Ring Cap Banding displays brightly as well with no wear. The gold-filled lever is very clean, displays bright gold-filled color, and is free from any wear or brassing. There are no monograms or personalizations on either the cap or barrel. The barrel has a bit of a worn imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "CARTER'S PATENTED THE CARTER'S INK CO BOSTON - NEW YORK - CHICAGO".

I have tested the lever-filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly.

This Carter's INX NIB is a Semi-Flex 14K Nib that writes with a fine/medium to double broad line variation. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Carter Inx NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .55mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine/medium to double broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the fine/medium line measures .59mm with light pressure, and the double broad measures 1.31mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Blue Ink.

Carter was a well-known maker of fountain pen ink, but made fountain pens only for a few years, from the mid-1920s to around the early 1930s. It offered very high-quality pens, highly sought today by those who want top-tier pens by small makers.

This vintage Carter's Fountain Pen is a very clean and scarce example in coral celluloid. This Carter's made fountain pen should grade in Excellent Condition with such vibrant and stunning coral coloring! It is a collector grade that one will rarely find the opportunity to own. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
