Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1930s Carter's Streamlined Fountain Pen in this gorgeous and vibrant Coral celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in superb writing condition. The color is exceptional and very desirable in this color and size, which is difficult to acquire.

I have cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the rubber sac with a new sac. Hand polished the gold-filled Carter's rocker clip, lever arm, and 2-ring barrel banding. I have also cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Carter's Fountain Pen is a Streamline model that is short and slender and measures 4 5/8" inches capped and 5 5/8" posted. The center of the barrel has a diameter of 10.67mm.

The fountain pen cap and barrel are in exceptional condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. This Coral color is uncompromised and displays nearly like the day it left the factory - brilliant and clean coral coloring! The clip on the cap displays brightly with a tiny bit of wear on the ball area of the clip. The 2-Ring Cap Banding displays brightly as well with no gold-filled loss. The gold-filled lever is very clean, displays a bright gold-filled color, and is free from any wear or brassing. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The barrel has a bit of a worn imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "CARTER'S PATENTED THE CARTER'S INK CO BOSTON - NEW YORK - CHICAGO".

I have tested the lever-filling mechanism with water and fills as it should.

This Carter's INX NIB is a 14K Nib and generates a great writing experience. The actual writing portion of the 14K Carter Inx NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .84mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a Fine to Double Broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures .45mm and the double broad measures 1.54mm when measured with digital calipers with medium to firm pressure. The Carter Nib writes fairly smoothly with great line variation - this pen is a pleasure to write with. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Carter was a well-known maker of fountain pen ink, but made fountain pens only for a few years, from the mid-1920s to around the mid-1930s. It offered very high-quality pens, highly sought today by those who want top-tier pens by small makers.

This vintage Carter's Fountain Pen is a very clean and scarce example of the Streamline Coral pattern. Carter's made fountain pens from 1924 to 1937 I would consider this Carter to easily grade in Very Fine to  Excellent Condition. It is a collector grade that one will rarely find the opportunity to own. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection!
